Deru is an artist and architect, based in West London. He is originally from Borneo, Sarawak, east of Malaysia. He came to London in 1998 to study architecture. Before embarking on the subject, he was told to work on his English. He had to postpone his education until 2000 to attend English classes, whilst having part time jobs.
After experiencing episodes of rollercoasters in the architectural profession; in the aftermath of financial crisis back in 2010 and the recent pandemic outbreak, Deru is now focusing on his drawing, vlogging and writing.
His mediums is Black ink and marker pen drawings on large paper and also animations.
